Commercial UAV News is providing free webinars and first up is titled :
WHAT’S THE FUTURE OF LIDAR?
LIDAR stands for Light Detection and Ranging and is a remote sensing utility using pulses of light to determine ranges of variable distances to the earth. Aircraft, drones and other airborne craft can provide this data and generate exact information regarding the Earth’s surface and shape and details.
Traditionally airplanes and helicopters have provided this service however drones are now taking over due to the reduced cost and ease of use. The instruments they use are lasers, GPS receivers, and scanners. Some of the lasers use the infrared spectrum typically the Topographic LIDAR, and the other category of LIDAR, Bathymetric uses green light to see beneath the sea providing seafloor and riverbed elevation data. Clever stuff!
Anyhow this remote sensing method will be discussed in the up and coming Webinar
